The Northern Maine Ice Busters (NMIB) have always been at the forefront of ice carousel innovation, and 2025 will mark yet another historic achievement. This year, rather than competing for the title of largest ice carousel, we are embarking on a completely new challenge—creating the world’s first international ice carousel that spans two countries.
As we prepare for this unprecedented event, taking place on March 14-16, 2025, we are thrilled to unveil our new official logo, a design that embodies the unity, teamwork, and cross-border collaboration that make this project so special.
A Logo That Tells a Story
This emblem is more than just a logo—it’s a symbol of cooperation and camaraderie between two nations. Designed to reflect the historic location of our event, the logo features key elements that highlight our mission:
- The black vertical line represents the international boundary along the St. John River, dividing Van Buren, Maine, USA, and Saint Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada.
- The red circle, enclosing both the U.S. and Canadian flags, symbolizes the rotating ice carousel, a testament to how this project brings people together across borders.
- The words “International Competition – Cooperation & Comradery” reinforce the spirit of this world-first achievement—a friendly cross-border challenge celebrating teamwork and innovation.
More Than a Record—A Milestone in Ice Carousel History
Unlike our previous record-breaking attempts for the world’s largest ice carousel, this year’s goal is different but just as ambitious. The NMIB team, along with our partners in Canada, is setting out to create the first-ever ice carousel that crosses an international border, spinning in perfect unity between two nations.
This unique event requires precise planning, technical expertise, and the dedication of volunteers on both sides of the river. From coordinating logistics to ensuring the ice’s integrity across two jurisdictions, this project represents an entirely new level of challenge—but one we are ready to conquer together!
A Special Thanks to Mike Cyr
We want to give a huge shoutout and heartfelt thanks to Mike Cyr for this incredible new logo. His work perfectly captures the significance of this event, bringing together our history, ambition, and spirit of collaboration in a single powerful image.
