Burnee Takes a Spin – Ice Carousel Prep Day!

It’s the eve of the big cut, and things are heating up (figuratively, of course—because it’s still freezing out here). The legendary Surveyor Mike Cyr was on the ice today, making sure every measurement was spot-on.

Because when you’re trying to carve out a world-record ice carousel, there’s no room for a lopsided merry-go-round situation. Precision is key, and Mike is our ice-bound Michelangelo, making sure this masterpiece takes perfect form.

But let’s be real—no Ice Carousel event would be complete without the man, the myth, the mastermind himself, Roger Morneault.

2023 World Record Ice Carousel attempt

Roger was out there today, ensuring every last detail was ready for the big cut tomorrow. And because he never does anything halfway, he also brought Burnee, the NMIB mascot, along for the ride. Yes, folks, Burnee—a wood-burning metal giant—was strapped to a sled and paraded around the ice like some sort of frozen royalty. Because if you can’t bring a fire-breathing metal mascot to an ice-cutting event, are you even doing it right?

A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers who braved the elements to help get everything ready. We couldn’t do this without you, and we promise that when this thing starts spinning, it’ll all be worth it.

Also, big shoutout to Aroostook UAS, who had their drone up in the air, testing their livestreaming setup. That means that soon, people from around the world will be able to witness the magic of the ice carousel in action—so make sure to like, share, and spread the word!

Stay tuned, because tomorrow the cutting begins. Let’s make history—again.
